Listening to Old Voice Recordings

I am listening to a voice recording from April 7th, 2018. It’s Chas and I walking and talking about a short film idea. We go back and forth about what should be and what would happen in the storyline. I also present the idea of making this routine into a podcast. Where we go out for a walk and talk about anything that comes to our mind.

We also spoke about the actual process of what our podcast would be like. Chas has heard me talk about wanting to do this podcast a reality but is always worried that he won’t be able to speak freely and would have to censor himself. In the recording, I explain how humanity is made up of a lot of different perspectives and how just because we might not agree or act on someone else’s perspectives and belief system it doesn’t make us less human. He asks if I would edit some stuff because he doesn’t want to be heard talking about the more controversial stuff.

I explain that I’d obviously edit a lot of it, but the idea of walking and just talking freely is still appealing to me. We are heard talking about books, sex, and a boy that climbed something that we feel concerned about. It’s a 30-minute recording of us walking through our neighborhood and visiting the Little Libraries. These are little houses made out of wood, sometimes other materials, and they hold books left behind by people that do not want them anymore. The idea is that you take a book and leave a book.

I have a lot of recordings, not tons, but more than I thought I did. It is interesting to hear our voices. I can almost see the street we were walking on. I am hoping that I can use that medium for years to come and make something great of it. I am still hoping to create a podcast and make our walking time an experience to be recorded in time and space, for someone to one day listen to.
